Inside the Children’s Museum

10:30-11:15am – Coffee Time Tasting
Small Classroom
Brian Bessette of the Freedom Cafe in Durham will host a 45-minute coffee cupping seminar and tasting. Participants will learn about the different flavor profiles of various fair trade and ethically sourced coffees.

11:45am-1:30pm – Stamping Silverware
Small Classroom
Learn how to make your own stamped silverware with Marjorie MacLeod. Leave with ideas on how to make cheese markers, keychains and more! Marjorie will demonstrate how to space letters evenly and how to safely stamp your own spoons and forks. (Kids can design their own foam stamp to take home!)

1-2pm – Circuit Art & Makey Makey
Large Classroom
Create your own aluminum foil circuit – then decorate and watch it become a light up work of art! Also experiment with our Makey-Makey lemon piano!

2:45-3:30pm – Egg Drop Challenge
Large Classroom
Can you create a container to keep little eggie safe from a drop off the Museum roof? Teams will build during this workshop and then watch the descent of the eggs at 3:45 in front of the museum!

All Day – Creating Comics
Learn Cartooning and Creating Comics Workshops with Emily Drouin of EPLIS Comics, a professional illustrator and comic book artist.



Outside in Upper Henry Law Park

11am-1pm – Beef Stu Henry Law Park Stage
A classic rock jam band with great positive energy and vibes for all!

2pm – Magic Fred Show         Henry Law Park Stage
Please join Fred for a fun, family friendly show for all ages! There will be lots of magic and comedy to keep you laughing while you are being amazed.

3-3:30pm – Who’s Bella, Music!
Henry Law Park Stage
A local rock band who will be playing popular covers and their own original music.

3:45pm – Launch Egg Drop Creations
Museum Roof, facing the park
Whose egg-saving designs will survive the three-story drop? Come and find out! (Workshop to build your own egg drop container is from 2:45-3:30pm inside the Museum)

4pm – Cardboard Challenge Ceremony & Smoke Ring Cannon Demo    
Henry Law Park Stage
We recognize the Cardboard Challenge participants (whose creations are on display inside the Museum) and test our Smoke Ring Cannons!


Outside in Lower Henry Law Park

All Day – Rocket Launching
Create and test your own paper rocket with our friends from Air Rocket Works!

1, 2 & 3pm – Trebuchet Ice Into the Cocheco River Join Tim Mallard and our Friends from Port City Makerspace along the riverside as they test the mighty power of their trebuchet by launching balls of ice into the Cocheco River.


Inside One Washington Mill

10:30-11am & 2-2:30pm – Making Without Breaking the Bank
Join Ken Jaggard and explore how scrap materials, recycled, up-cycled and common household items can be used in lots of ways to create many projects including tools to help you solder, melt glass, cast pewter, make buttons, charms, gears and mechanisms.

Noon-1pm – Animal Origami with Claire
Noon-12:30pm – Recommended for ages 3-6
Join Claire to make puppy and bunny rabbit origami! Parental assistance suggested.
12:30-1pm – Recommended for ages 7-97
Learn to make an origami talking dinosaur and the Museum’s own Big Blue Crab! Parental assistance is suggested for ages 10 and under.


Roaming Throughout the Faire

All Day – N.E. Ghostbusters Alliance Taskforce Ecto – They will be roaming the faire doing sweeps for ghosts but if you happen to catch them at their booth they will show you how to create and decorate your own ghost trap, make a marshmallow man, and read you some stories.

Northeast Buccaneers – Learn what life at the high seas was like!  Piratical activities for all ages! Come meet Tiki the Macaw, and get put in our pillory for a few photos!  ARRRR ye ready to be a pirate?

Francois the Artist – Watch him start and finish an oil painting. Be sure to say hello!
